El efecto Droste es una recreación visual que se asocia con M.C. Escher y que utilizó en algunas de sus obras más conocidas. El efecto consiste en la repetición infinita de una imagen. El nombre "Droste" se debe a una antigua marca holandesa de cacao en polvo cuyo envase metálico mostraba la imagen de una enfermera que sostenía una bandeja que a su vez sostenía un envase de la misma marca que contenía la misma imagen de la enfermera, y así se repetía infinitamente la misma imagen.
